Reality check, kids!I will favorite everything I deem "unarts".
What is unarts, exactly? Unarts is the sloppily traced Naruto fanart festering in your back drawer that you recently decided to upload to boost your deviation count. Unarts is the scan-in of your favorite hentai cover. Unarts is the photo of yourself you took in your mother's bathroom (and in your sister's pants) with your camera phone. Unarts is the halfassed Sonic fanfic with incomprehensible grammar. Unarts IS the cancer that is killing deviantART.
A daunting mission, to be sure. I will most likely end in fail. But, I promise you, there shall also be win.
Also remember: It's called "Scraps" for a reason.
Mission status: ACTIVE.
UPDATE: From now on, I will not favorite a piece without critiquing on what I see as flaws and what could be done artistically to better the piece (that is, if it is not totally nonsensical). I apologize for overlooking this when I first set up this account. Hopefully this will provide clarification as to my reasoning and intentions.
***TL;DR, here's some copypasta: My purpose is to make people reevaluate their submission--perhaps their entire gallery-- and determine if DA is the right place for this. If not, I'm hoping, they will be motivated to increase the quality of said "art".

I've been guilty of using DA simply to share a photo or two, or uploading a doodle, but always in the "Scraps" section. Some of the galleries up here are a waste of space.

There are websites like myspace and photobucket for file sharing, this is supposed to be a place for criticism and growth of art. Do we really need thousands of galleries filled with nothing but sonic recolours? Pictures of half a kid's face?
The point of this gallery is to shift the focus of DeviantART to those who use it for the correct purpose - a community of ART, and the progress of art.

I agree that recolors that don't look good or photos that aren't the best quality don't need to be here but who should decide that? I saw he had a picture of stick figures favorited and I was thinking, "What the Hell? Has he even considered that could be the best the artist could do?" I can't draw to save my life but I can do some basic designs and I write pretty well. The bottom line is, it's not up to him to decide what is art and what isn't. That just makes him into a judgmental person no one (if they're like me) is going to appreciate, regardless of his intentions.

Though it could be seen as insulting, it's his choice and right to call a piece what he wants. If your opinions differ, you are more than welcome to state them, as you have done. Though when that's all said and done, no one's mind is changed.
Because while you may not agree with his opinion, as I do not agree with yours, that doesn't negate his or your right to express it. So perhaps we can say, "to each his own," and move on with our own art?
